CSSA caseload for April
The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in April shows a slight increase of 83 cases than the previous month, representing an insignificant rise of 0.03%, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (May 9).
Total CSSA caseload at the end of April stood at 294,287(see attached table, MSExcel Document), with a total of 516,302 welfare recipients.
Analysed by case nature, the number of unemployment cases decreased by 0.3% to 36,634 cases.
Single parent cases registered a marginal decrease of 13 cases in April to 38,265.
Low earnings cases showed a month-to-month decrease of 0.2% in April to 18,000. Total government expenditure on CSSA payments was about $17.8 billion for 2005-06. Ends May 9, 2007
