CSSA caseload for June

    The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in June shows a decrease of 0.2% (482 cases) over May, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (July 4).

     Total CSSA caseload at the end of June stood at 293,470 (see attached table), with a total of 515,365 welfare recipients.  

     Analysed by case nature, the number of unemployment cases decreased by 1.1% to 35,947 cases.

     Single parent cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 0.1% in June to 38,241.

     Low earnings cases showed a month-to-month decrease of 0.6% in June to 17,874.
 
     Total government expenditure on CSSA payments was about $17.8 billion for 2005-06.
