Lotteries Fund allocates over $71m to welfare programmes
The Lotteries Fund allocated $71,943,320 to finance various social welfare service programmes from October to December last year, the Social Welfare Department said today (January 18).
Of the amount, $29,395,520 went to elderly and medical social services, $19,665,200 to family and child welfare services, $11,765,500 to social welfare support services, $10,416,300 to rehabilitation services, $553,900 to services for offenders and $146,900 to youth services.
The fund was established to finance, by way of grants, loans or advances, the operation or development of social welfare services and medical or educational projects with a welfare content.
