Stories Behind

Frontline workers of the Social Welfare Department deal with all sorts of cases and provide different kinds of services to their customers each day.  Behind such cases or services, there are many untold stories.  In this book, our workers reveal how they go out all the way to help those in need to stand on their own feet, and share their thoughts and feelings in the process.  We wish this publication can help the public to understand our work and the challenges encountered, and promote professional exchange.  Published by the Social Welfare Department, the book features 15 real life stories on cases or service projects handled by different frontline staff including social workers, clinical psychologists, social security officers, job developer, etc.

The Social Welfare Department has published a Casebook named 'Untying Family Knots - Casebook on Working with Welfare Families in Hong Kong'. This Casebook is a compilation of case studies documenting the learning and experience of a group of accredited clinical supervisors. It aims at promoting the concept and skills in clinical supervision and case handling for both social workers and other related mental health professionals.

The Five Year Plan for Social Welfare Development in Hong Kong - Review 1998

Report on Review of the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance Scheme - December 1998

An inter-departmental Steering Group chaired by the Director of Social Welfare completed at the end of 1998 a review of the operation of the CSSA Scheme with recommendations on how those on CSSA can be encouraged and helped to rejoin the workforce.
