Service Description The Senior Citizen Card provides a generally recognized proof of age to elders so as to facilitate their access to concessions, discounts or priority services offered by Government departments, public companies, private and commercial establishments. The Scheme aims at promoting a spirit of respect for the senior citizens. |

Eligibility Criteria Hong Kong residents aged 65 or over are eligible for the Card. |

Application Procedures
 |
Application by mail: The application form together with a photograph and a copy of the applicant's HK Identity Card can be mailed to the Senior Citizen Card Office by the use of the pre-addressed envelope. The staff will process the application and send the card to applicant by mail within 7 working days after receiving the application (or after the date when the applicant is eligible, whichever the later date). |

Apply in person: The applicant (or his relative/friend) can apply the Card in person to the Senior Citizen Card Office when the applicant reaches the age of 65. Upon completing the application form and presenting the copy of the ID Card and the photograph, the staff will process the application and issue the Card. | |

Distribution of the Application Forms The application forms and pre-addressed envelopes are available at the Senior Citizen Card Office, District Offices, and Social Security Field Units of the Social Welfare Department, Integrated Family Service Centre of each district, Estate Offices of the Housing Department, Public Enquiry Offices of the Home Affairs Department, Community Centres, District Elderly Community Centre, Neighbourhood Elderly Centre and the Social Centres for the elderly. |

Procedures for Handling Under-age Application

If the applicant send the application within one month prior to the attainment of the age of 65, we will send an interim reply to the applicant informing him that we will keep his application form and shall process his application by the time he reaches the age of 65 together with other applications we have received in a sequence according to the date of receive. Then we will send the card to applicant by mail within 7 working days after the applicant is eligible for the Card. |

If the applicant sends the application more than one month prior to the attainment of the age of 65, we will return the application form and the related documents to the applicant and advise him to send his application again when he reaches the age of 65. | |

Fee and Charges Issue of the first Card is free. However, a nominal fee will be charged for replacement. The current fee is $22 (subject to revision). Replacement fee can be mailed to the Senior Citizen Card Office by crossed cheque/cashier order (payable to 'The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region'). |

Opening hours Monday to Friday 8:45 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 5:45 pm (1:00 pm to 2:00 pm lunch break). Closed on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday. |

No need to renew The Senior Citizen Card is not necessary to be renewed every year. The staff of the Senior Citizen Card Office will not inform the card holders to renew their cards by phone. Please do not disclose your personal particulars to strangers. In case of doubt, please call us at 2961 7580-1. |
