The Samaritan Fund is a charitable fund established by resolution of the Legislative Council in 1950. It is now financed by donations and administered by the Hospital Authority. Its purpose is to provide financial assistance to needy patients in meeting expenses required in the course of medical treatment which are not included in hospital maintenance or out-patient consultation fees in public hospitals and clinics. The basic philosophy is to ensure that no one would be prevented, through lack of means, from obtaining adequate medical treatment.
