Service Description
The Post-Release Supervision of Prisoners Scheme, serving certain categories of adult discharged prisoners put under supervision order in accordance with the Post-Release Supervision of Prisoners Ordinance (Chapter 475), is a joint venture of Social Welfare Department and Correctional Services Department established in 1996. This scheme provides adult discharged prisoners with guidance and counselling to help them reintegrate into society and lead a law-abiding life.

Target Group
Discharged prisoners who are subject to the post-release supervision ordered by the Post-Release Supervision Board.

Content of Service
|
To visit prisoners in penal institutions and help them formulate rehabilitation plan for their return to the community.
|

|
To provide guidance and counselling to supervisees and their family members through regular visits at their home/work place and refer them to welfare services if deemed necessary and appropriate.

Post-Release Supervision Board
The length and conditions of all Supervision Orders are decided by the Post-Release Supervision Board. It is an independent statutory organization which consists of judge or former judge as Chairman, Deputy Chairman and at least six other members including Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist and Barrister / Solicitor as well as representatives from Correctional Services Department, Hong Kong Police Force and the social welfare services sectors;

Application for Review
The Prisoner/Supervisee has the right to make not more than one request to the Post-Release Supervision Board for varying or discharging the order, by applying in writing for review at any time upon or after the making of the order;
