Community Rehabilitation Day Services
Information Brief Community Rehabilitation Day Services are a new community support providing outreaching occupational therapy training services to ex-mentally ill persons living in the community in order to help them better integrate into the community.

Services The occupational therapy (OT) training programmes include the followings:

Self care activities such as training on personal hygiene, clothing, eating habit and arrangement of daily routine.

Home management skill training such as training on laundry, menu planning, cooking, home safety, prevention of theft and fire, basic first aid at home and handling of emergency, etc.
|
 |
Health management training such as training on basic health knowledge, relaxation strategies, awareness of the importance of seeking medical assistance and compliance of drug treatment.

 |
Basic community living skills training such as training on usage of nearby community facilities to enhance independent living, purchase of daily necessities, banking, road safety, arrangement of leisure activities, basic social skills, communication through telephone and support network etc. |

Target Group
 |
Ex-mentally ill persons aged 15 to 65 who are living in the community with stable mental state and are ready to receive the OT training;
|
 |
The applicants have not received any day services or vocational training services;
|
 |
Upon assessment, the ex-mentally ill persons have difficulties in daily living and are in need of OT training.
|
 |
Applicants include those who:
 |
are dischargees of halfway houses; |
 |
are members of the Training and Activity Centres' social club; |
 |
are outpatients and have completed HA's OT treatment but still require a time-defined outreaching OT service and ongoing monitoring; |
 |
are residents living in private homes for people with disabilities. |

Referral
 |
Referrals can be made by psychiatrists, social workers, or allied health workers to the respective Centre by the CRSRehab-ExMI Form 2.

Length of Service
 |
Each case will receive a period of 3 to 9 months of occupational therapy training subject to his/her progress in receiving the training.

Fee Charging
 |
The applicants are only required to receive assessment to certify their needs for occupational training. The Community Rehabilitation Day Service is fee of charge. |
