The Central Fund for Personal Computers
(For persons with disabilities engaging in self-employment or supported employment service)

* Introduction

To support persons with disabilities to integrate into society, the Social Welfare Department (SWD) all along encourages persons with disabilities to take up supported employment service or open employment.  However, due to physical disabilities or other reasons, some persons with disabilities' opportunities of attending open employment or supported employment service are affected.  To address the issue, SWD set up the Central Fund for Personal Computers in 1997 to assist persons with disabilities in acquiring computers for self-employment or receiving supported employment service at home.  For details, please read the Information Note.

* Application procedures

SWD will send letters to the rehabilitation organisations and Selective Placement Division of the Labour Department for inviting nomination of the eligible persons with disabilities before the specified deadline. Applicants are required to make their applications through the rehabilitation organisations or Selective Placement Division of the Labour Department.  Completed Application Form (in duplicate) should be sent to the Rehabilitation and Medical Social Services Branch of Social Welfare Department at Room 901, 9/F., Wu Chung House, 213 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.  The applicants and nominating organisations will be informed in writing of the result of their applications.
