Feb 2010 The Third Phase of the New Dawn Project

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) is now inviting non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with experience in operating employment assistance projects commissioned by SWD or Labour Department to submit applications to run the Third Phase of the New Dawn (ND) Project for a period of 18 months from 1 April 2010 to 30 September 2011. NGOs are required to provide employment assistance services for single parents and child carers on Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) with their youngest child aged 12 to 14 to enhance their capacity for self-help, integrate into society and move towards self-reliance through engagement in paid employment.

Under the Third Phase of the ND Project, twelve projects will be launched over the territory in the following seven clusters during the Implementation Period:

NGOs interested in operating the Third Phase of the ND Project please submit proposal with details on how to provide the services to meet the objectives and requirements set out in the Service Specification. There should be not more than 25 pages (A4 with font size 13) in total for each project proposal. Applicant organizations may refer to the Points to Note for Submitting Project Proposal to Implement the Third Phase of the ND Project for the content and format of the project proposal. A full set of the proposal [the original plus eight hard copies and one soft copy in CD ROM (MS Word 6.0 or above version)] should be submitted to the SWD by dropping it into the Collection Box placed at the following address:

Deadline for submission of the application is 5:00 p.m. on 24 February 2010 (Wednesday). Late applications will NOT be accepted. In the event of severe weather conditions (i.e. typhoon warning signal No. 8 or above or black rainstorm warning signal is in force), the deadline for submitting the application will be automatically extended to the next working day.

Feb 2010 Financial Support Scheme for Self-help Organisations of People with Disabilities/Chronic Illness

The Department is now calling for application for Financial Support Scheme for Self-help Organisations of People with Disabilities/Chronic Illness covering a period from 1 April 2010 to 31 March 2012. Bona fide non-profit making self-help organisations of people with disabilities/chronic illness, which have been formally registered under relevant ordinance(s) for not less than three years and not been receiving regular subventions from the Department are eligible to submit applications. The closing of application is 29 January 2010 (Friday) 5:00 p.m.
Feb 2010 Invitation to Operate the Second Batch of the Child Development Fund Projects

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) is now inviting bona fide charitable organisations with a good track record on the provision of children and youth services in Hong Kong in the past 5 years to operate the second batch of the Child Development Fund projects. There will be a total of 15 projects each in the following regions/districts - Hong Kong Island, Kwun Tong, Wong Tai Sin, Sai Kung, Kowloon City & Yau Tsim Mong, Sham Shui Po, Sha Tin, Tai Po & North district, Tsuen Wan & Kwai Tsing, Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai and Tung Chung. The closing date of submission of application is 26 February 2010. 

The Projects aim to encourage children from a disadvantaged background to develop an asset-building habit and to accumulate financial assets as well as non-financial assets (such as right attitudes and a proper mindset, personal resilience and capacities as well as social networks) which are important assets for their future development.

Feb 2010 Application for "Hong Kong Paralympians Fund"

Applications are invited for the following categories of grants under the Hong Kong Paralympians Fund. 

(a) Development of target sports (2010-11);
(b) Employment facilitating grant for retired athletes with disabilities (2010-12);
(c) Subsistence grant to athletes with disabilities (2010-11).

The deadline for (a) and (b) is 16 December 2009 and deadline for (c) is 4 January 2010.
