Nov 2017Announcement of the Result of Invitation of Proposals to Operate a New Day Care Centre for the Elderly

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) has earlier invited eligible Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) to submit proposals to operate a Day Care Centre for the Elderly (DE) at Sheung Chui Court, Sha Tsui Road, Tsuen Wan.  A total of twelve proposals were received and a Vetting Committee (VC) was set up to conduct assessment of all proposals.  Upon recommendation of the VC, SWD has selected Po Leung Kuk to operate the DE.
Nov 2017Invitation of Application for Joining the "Pilot Scheme on Home Care and Support for Elderly Persons with Mild Impairment" under the Community Care Fund as Approved Service Providers

The Social Welfare Department is now inviting eligible Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) to submit applications for joining the "Pilot Scheme on Home Care and Support for Elderly Persons with Mild Impairment” (Pilot Scheme) under the Community Care Fund, as Approved Service Providers to provide related support services.

The NGOs operating subvented Integrated Home Care Services at all districts of Hong Kong are invited for joining the Pilot Scheme to assist in the implementation.  Interested NGO is required to reply by filling in the Annex 4 (i.e. the Reply Form) of the "Approved Service Providers - Service Specifications" and return it on or before 10 November 2017 (Friday).

Nov 2017Application for "The Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment" and/ or "Central Fund for Personal Computers"

"The Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment" (The Scheme)(25th round) and "Central Fund for Personal Computers" (The Fund) (37th round) now accept applications.  The deadline for both the Scheme and Fund is 30 Nov 2017. The Scheme has been further enhanced since October 2015, including expansion of coverage on subsidy to purchase accessories/portable devices for PVI.

Eligible organisations, educational institutes and individual persons with visual impairment may apply for "The Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment" whereas "Central Fund for Personal Computers" is for eligible persons with disabilities engaging in self-employment at home or supported employment service at home.

Nov 2017Review on Processing of Compassionate Rehousing (CR) Cases

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) is currently conducting the captioned review.   To collect views from personnel directly involved in the processing of CR cases, the 1st round focus group meetings were held in March 2017.  Based on the views collected from the focus group meetings and other channels, SWD is pondering and drafting alternative measures and proposals for enhancing the processing of CR cases.  The 2nd round focus group meetings will be held in January 2018 for collecting views from personnel directly involved in the processing of CR cases on the draft enhancement measures and proposals.  Details on the arrangement of enrolment will be announced later.

Nov 2017Updated Arrangement for Procurement of Certified Water Filters and Water Boilers with the Use of Lotteries Fund

In accordance with the advice from the Water Supplies Department on water use tips and tips for using wall-mounted dispensers, use of water filters and water boilers certified by American NSF Standard for removal of lead is suggested in order to safeguard the drinking water quality.  NGOs should refer to the following documents for procurement of certified water filters and water boilers.

• Price List of Common Furniture and Equipment (updated version).
