The Rehabilitation and Medical Social Services Branch has issued an invitation letter dated 25 June 2007 to the NGOs (rehabilitation services) for their submission of proposal for setting up small business(es) for persons with disabilities under the ¡§Enhancing Employment of People with Disabilities through Small Enterprise¡¨ Project (3E¡¦s Project) at the captioned vacant premises. 

 

The proposal is expected to be not more than 10 pages (including appendices, font size at 12, and submitted in two hard copies and one soft copy).  If you are interested in this project, please submit your ¡§Preliminary Business Proposal¡¨ in sealed envelope by hand on or before 5:00 pm on 16 July 2007 (Monday) to the following address:

Jun 2007 Task Group on Implementation of Integrated Family Service Centres

The Task Group on Implementation of Integrated Family Service Centres (IFSCs) (Task Group), comprising representatives from all the nine Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) operating IFSCs, two NGOs operating the Integrated Services Centres in Tung Chung, 12 District Social Welfare Offices of Social Welfare Department (SWD) and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, was formed in May 2004 to discuss on operational issues and common areas of concerns arising from the implementation of IFSCs.  A total of twenty-two Task Group meetings have been held between May 2004 and June 2007.  You may retrieve the notes of the meetings in the following section:

Jun 2007 Invitation for Proposals to Operate Community Mental Health Intervention Project (CoMHIP)

The Rehabilitation and Medical Social Services Branch has issued an invitation letter dated 13 June 2007 to the eleven NGOs operating subvented social rehabilitation services for ex-mentally ill persons for their tendering of quality proposal for operation of the following new rehabilitation project:

 

  • One Community Mental Health Intervention Project team in each SWD administrative district.

 

A briefing session will be held as follows.

 

Date: 15 June 2007

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Venue: Conference Room 1, 9/F Wu Chung House, 213 Queen¡¦s Road East, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

 

Each applicant can at most apply for 2 districts. Proposal should be not more than 25 pages with 2 district preferences or 15 pages for those with 1 district preference only.  For English version, A4 with front size at 12, single-line spacing with all margins also set at 3cm) (For Chinese version, font ¡¥·s²Ó©úÅ顦 size 13, single-line spacing with all margins also set at 3cm.  All proposals should be sent in 6 hard copies and 1 soft copy on or before 6 July 2007 (Friday) 5:00 p.m. to the following address:

Jun 2007 Invitation for Rehabilitation Service Agencies' Nomination for Certificate in Rehabilitation Services (2007-08) - In-service Certificate Training Course for Rehabilitation Personnel Working for People with Mental Handicap

To facilitate the workshop instructors, welfare workers and other staff working with people with disabilities in vocational rehabilitation, day and residential training settings of NGOs and Social Welfare Department (SWD) as well as residential homes operated by private organizations to acquire multi-skills and take an active role in developing the potential of people with mental handicap, the SWD has commissioned the Division of Social Studies, Community College of City University of Hong Kong to run the above-course.  The course, which is funded by Queen Elizabeth Foundation for the Mentally Handicapped, is a one-year part-time course and will commence on 22 September 2007 and finish in August 2008.  Tuition fee of $500 is to be payable by the applicant when the application is accepted.  Rehabilitation service agencies are invited to nominate suitable staff for this course and the application will be closed on 27 July 2007.

Jun 2007 Provision of a one-off additional month of social welfare assistance to recipients of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) and Social Security Allowance (SSA)

The Social Welfare Department has made payment of additional social welfare assistance of one month to recipients of CSSA and SSA (including Disability Allowance and Old Age Allowance) on 30 May 2007.  Beneficiaries can get the additional assistance through the existing CSSA or SSA payment method (i.e. normally through bank payment credited to the designated bank account).  Beneficiaries are not required to make application for the additional assistance.  Recipients who are eligible for CSSA or SSA in the month of implementation (i.e. May 2007) will benefit from the additional assistance.

For recipients whose eligibility for May 2007 has yet to be established or reviewed, the Department will arrange payment to them once their eligibility is confirmed.

Jun 2007 New Arrangements on Direct Rent Payment for Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Recipients Residing in Public Rental Housing (PRH) to the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA)

With effect from 1 June 2007, for CSSA cases where the household has to pay rent for a PRH flat (including an Interim Housing unit) under HA, the Social Welfare Department will, under normal circumstances, arrange direct bank transfer of the CSSA rent allowance payable to the household to HA's bank account monthly for paying rent (including the license fee) of the PRH flat.

The Rehabilitation and Medical Social Services Branch of the Social Welfare Department has issued an invitation letter dated 18 June 2007 to the NGOs (welfare) for their tendering of quality proposal for the operation of the following new pre-school rehabilitation project:

    • the Early Education and Training Centre (EETC) at Skyline Tower, Tong Mei Road, Mongkok

Site visit will be held with schedules as follows:

i. 26 June 2007, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. - site visit to the new EETC at Flats A-D, 2/F., Skyline Tower, 18 Tong Mei Road, Mongkok, Kowloon.

The Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment" (4th round) and "Central Fund for Personal Computers" (16th round) now accept applications.

Eligible organisations, educational institutes and individual persons with visual impairment may apply for "The Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment" whereas "Central Fund for Personal Computers" is for people with disabilities engaging in supported employment or self-employment.
