| Community Mental Health Intervention Project
Community Mental Health Intervention Project has commenced services since 1 October 2007. The objective of this Project is to provide specialized social work intervention including casework, therapeutic and supportive group services to assist persons in the community with suspected mental health problems and / or their family members to deal with problems arising from their poor mental health conditions.

| Application for "The Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment" and/ or "Central Fund for Personal Computers"
"The Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment" (5th round) and "Central Fund for Personal Computers" (17th round) now accept applications. The deadline for both the Scheme and Fund is 7 December 2007.
Eligible organisations, educational institutes and individual persons with visual impairment may apply for "The Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment" whereas "Central Fund for Personal Computers" is for eligible people with disabilities engaging in self-employment or supported employment service.

| Financial Support Scheme for Self-help Organizations of People with Disabilities
The Department is now calling for application for Financial Support Scheme for Self-help Organizations of People with Disabilities covering a period from 1 April 2008 to 31 March 2010. Bona fide non-profit making self-help organizations of people with disabilities, which have been formally registered under relevant ordinance(s) for not less than three years and not been receiving regular subventions from the Department are eligible to submit applications. The closing of application is 19 November 2007 (Friday) 5:00 p.m.

| The Enhanced New Dawn (ND) Project
The Social Welfare Department (SWD) has implemented the New Dawn Intensive Employment Assistance Projects (ND IEAPs) from April 2006 to September 2007. The ND IEAPs aim at providing a package of intensive employment assistance services to help single parents and child carers on Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) with no or limited working experience. In view of the achievement of the ND IEAPs, SWD has again secured funding from the Lotteries Fund to commission non-governmental organizations as operating agencies to operate 20 projects under the Enhanced ND Project from October 2007 to March 2010 to continue to help and to enhance the employment assistance services to the CSSA single parents and child carers with their youngest child aged 12 to 14, to build up their capacities for self-help, so that they can integrate into the community through engagement in work and move towards self-reliance. In response to the invitation for application for funding support to the Enhanced ND Project in August 2007, a total of 39 proposals from 31 operating agencies having experience in operating Intensive Employment Assistance Projects and ND IEAPs were received. After the selection of the Project Selection Committee for the Enhanced ND Project, SWD has commissioned 20 operating agencies to operate 20 projects. | Invitation for Operating the Hostel for Moderately Mentally Handicapped Persons at Yeung Uk Road, Tsuen Wan
The Social Welfare Department is inviting non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating subvented rehabilitation services for people with disabilities to submit an application to operate the Hostel for Moderately Mentally Handicapped Persons (HMMH) at Unit A, G/F, 1 Yeung Uk Road, Tsuen Wan, N.T. Commencement of operation of the HMMH is planned to be in the fourth quarter of 2007-08. | Task Group on Implementation of Integrated Family Service Centres
The Task Group on Implementation of Integrated Family Service Centres (IFSCs) (Task Group), comprising representatives from all the nine Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) operating IFSCs, two NGOs operating the Integrated Services Centres in Tung Chung, 11 District Social Welfare Offices of Social Welfare Department (SWD) and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, was formed in May 2004 to discuss on operational issues and common areas of concerns arising from the implementation of IFSCs.
