Theme: Love the family - Build supportive neighbourhood

	Objectives	Strategies
1.	Enhancing Support and Network in the Community	To take on the following project for building up a good community support and network: i)           Good Neighbour Award Scheme ii)        'Home Environment Improvement Scheme for the Elderly' iii)      'Searching for Hidden Elderly Scheme' : adding one social worker to every District Elderly Community Centre and Neighbourhood Elderly Centre iv)      'Pilot Neighbourhood Active Ageing Project' : assisting elderly to set up neighbourhood support network v)        'District Support Scheme for Development of Children and Youth' : offering Direct Cash Assistance to children and youth in need and funding developmental projects organized by non-government organizations.
2.	Eliminating domestic violence through promoting familial harmony	To continue the 'Orange Ribbon Movement' comprising the following:  i)       Energising of Orange Ribbon Ambassador project ii)       Pilot project of  'Caring Post-gram' iii)     Caring for the elderly programmes iv)     'Family Happy Together' v)      'Healthy Internet for July & August 2008' vi)     To eliminate domestic violence through good cross-sector communication and strengthening of cooperation with local partners
3.	Strengthening Cooperation with Local Partners	To promote sense of acceptance and integration within the community by organizing the following : i)          to gain insight into the situation of the district for services prioritizing through the mechanism of District welfare Strategy and Development Committee ii)         to introduce welfare service in thematic approach in the relevant sub-committees under District Councils iii)       to conduct service briefings to local stakeholders iv)       to keep close and friendly relationship with district media to publicize in the community of updated welfare development v)   to organize various kinds of activities to meet the district particular needs in collaboration with local partners such as joint-handed programme with District Elderly Community Centre and Town Gas to cater for seasonal needs of the elderly
4.	Promoting Social Integration	To promote sense of acceptance and integration within the community by organizing the following : i)         carer recognition scheme for carers of demented elders; ii)        art exhibition integrating the disabled, elders and ethnic minorities iii)       promotion of volunteer services in particular those of a sustainable nature iv)     'Opportunities for the Elderly Project' : linking up schools, community organizations and elderly centres to work together on development of elderly potential
5.	Promoting Professionalism & Enhancing Team Spirit	To implement a series of 'better equipping' activities for staff of the Department and non-governmental organizations as follows: i)             like service sharing such as thematic sharing among school social workers, service sharing among youth outreaching team social workers and etc. ii)           visits to service units of different natures iii)          cross-service sharing among service units of different service natures; iv)         festive gathering to promote the work-life balanced concept
