CSSA caseload for March

    The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in March shows a decrease of 0.2% (477 cases) over February, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (April 9).

    Total CSSA caseload at the end of March stood at 285,773 (see attached table), with a total of 490,243 recipients. 

    Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases showed a continued decrease of 0.5% in March to 31,702.

    Single parent cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 0.2% in March to 36,626.
 
    Low earning cases showed a month-to-month decrease of 0.8% to stand at 16,872.

    Total government expenditure on CSSA payments was about $17.6 billion for 2006-07.
