CSSA payments to increase by 4.4% from tomorrow

     Recipients of the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme will get higher rates of payment from tomorrow (August 1), a spokesman for the Social Welfare Department said today (July 31).

     An increase of 4.4% as from August 1, 2008, in the standard payments of the CSSA Scheme was approved by the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council on June 6, 2008.  The adjustment was made ahead of the normal annual adjustment cycle to ease inflationary pressure on CSSA recipients.  Details of the revised rates are listed in the annex.

     CSSA recipients who have enquiries are advised to contact their respective social security field units or the departmental hotline at 2343 2255.
