Victim Support for Child Abuse, Spouse Battering and Sexual Violence Cases

The Social Welfare Department has developed the website on support for victims of child abuse, spouse battering and sexual violence (http://victimsupport.swd.gov.hk) in Hong Kong to facilitate access to relevant information by concerned departments, agencies and individuals. Apart from the website, there are also different victim support services to help victims of child abuse, spouse battering and sexual violence cases, including:

*

Witness Support Programme

In strengthening support to the vulnerable witnesses in criminal proceedings, namely a child or a mentally incapacitated person, support persons would be arranged through the Witness Support Programme, set up jointly by the Department and the Police in November 1996, to accompany the vulnerable witnesses who have to give evidence in court through a live television link system, after obtaining the Court's permission.
