Sheltered Workshop
Service Description It provides people with disabilities a training environment specially designed to accommodate the limitations arising from their disabilities such that they can be trained to engage in allowance-generating work skills training, learn to adjust to normal work requirements, develop social skills and relationships and prepare for potential advancement to supported/ open employment. It is a welfare-oriented service without an employer-employee relationship between the service operators and the trainees.
Eligibility for the Service Persons with disabilities who are: |

aged 15 or above with a need for sheltered work; |

capable of basic self-care; |
|
* |
mentally and emotionally stable with no severe disturbing behaviour; and |
|
* |
demonstrate to have work motivation/ ability. |
Application Procedures Referrals can be made by social workers or staff of rehabilitation service units to the Central Referral System for Rehabilitation Services of the Social Welfare Department.
Fees and Charges The service is provided free-of-charge.
