What are the eligibility criteria for Criminal and Law Enforcement Injuries Compensation (CLEIC)?
 
Answer:
Every application must satisfy the following conditions in order to be eligible for CLEIC :

  • the incident must have been the subject of criminal proceedings; or was reported to the Police without unreasonable delay;
  • the victim was legally permitted to stay in Hong Kong at the time of the incident;
  • the application must be made within 3 years after the date of the incident; and
  • the victim died/sustained permanent disability from the incident, or the injury sustained by the victim gave rise to at least 3 days' hospitalization/sick leave as certified by a registered medical practitioner.
