Feb 2012 Revision of Flat-rate Grant for Selected Items of School Related Expenses under the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme

The flat-rate grant for selected items of school related expenses under the CSSA Scheme will be adjusted upwards from the 2012/2013 school year.

Feb 2012 Announcement of the Result of Invitation of Proposal to Operate a New Integrated Rehabilitation Services Centre

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) has earlier invited non-profit making organisations operating subvented rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities to operate a new integrated rehabilitation services centre (IRSC) at Kau Wah Keng, Kwai Chung. A total of five proposals were received and a Vetting Committee (VC) was set up to conduct assessment of all the proposals. Upon the recommendation of the VC, SWD has selected The Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council to operate this IRSC.

Feb 2012 Assistance Programme under the Community Care Fund

In order to benefit more eligible persons, the Community Care Fund has extended the application period for the assistance programme of "Special Care Subsidy for the Severely Disabled" until 31 March 2012.

Feb 2012 Revision of Payment Rates under the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) and the Social Security Allowance (SSA) Schemes

The Finance Committee of the Legislative Council has approved an inflation-related increase of 5.2% in the rates of standard payments under the CSSA Scheme and the rates of Old Age Allowance (OAA) and Disability Allowance under the SSA Scheme with effect from 1 February 2012.

Moreover, the assets limit and maximum rent allowance under the CSSA Scheme, and the assets limit and monthly income limit under the Normal OAA of the SSA Scheme are also adjusted upwards from the same date.

The revised rates and limits effective from 1 February 2012 are provided in the leaflets below :
