Victim's Rights

As stipulated in the Victim of Crime Charter, a victim, like other members of the community, should help all law enforcement agencies, such as the Police and Independent Commission Against Corruption, to maintain law and order and to discover and apprehend offenders. On the other hand, a victim is entitled to the rights to:

  • be treated with courtesy and respect
  • have a proper response to complaints of crime
  • information – concerning reporting the crime
  • information – concerning investigation and prosecution
  • proper facilities at court
  • be heard
  • seek protection
  • privacy and confidentiality
  • prompt return of property
  • support and after-care
  • seek compensation
