 Service Description
The Senior Citizen Card provides a generally recognized proof of age to elders so as to facilitate their access to concessions, discounts or priority services offered by Government departments, public transport, private and commercial establishments. The Scheme aims at promoting a spirit of respect for the senior citizens. |

1. Supporting Documents Required
Completed application form
Recent colour full-faced photograph taken within past 6 months (plain background)
Copy of HK Smart Identity Card

2.1 First Application (Free of charge)
|

Application by mail: Eligible applicant can send the above supporting documents to the Senior Citizen Card Office by the pre-addressed envelope. Upon receiving all supporting documents, the office will process and send the card to applicant by mail within 7 working days after receiving the application. Applicant who will reach 65 years old within 60 days may also send the application to the office. The office will keep the application and send the card to the applicant by mail on 2 working days before the applicant's birthday or within 7 working days after receiving the application (whichever is the later).
Note : The following applications will not be processed by Senior Citizen Card Office and the document submitted will be returned to the applicants:
Applicant sends the application for more than 60 days prior to reaching 65 years old; or
Applicant fails to submit necessary supporting documents.
Underpaid mail items will be rejected. For proper delivery of your mail items to the department, please ensure your mail items bear sufficient postage with return address. (Delivery of mail items by using our prepared envelopes is excluded.)

Apply in person: Eligible applicant can bring along the required documents to the Senior Citizen Card Office during the office hours. The applicant will receive the Card within the day. (Due to COVID-19, in-person card application will all be mailed to the applicant on next working day to avoid crowding in public area until further notice) If the application is submitted by the applicant's relative/friend in person, the authorized person is required to provide his/her information of identity for our registration.

Online Application
Remarks:
(1) Upon reception of application, SCCO staff will process and send the card to applicant by mail within 7 working days.
(2) For those applicants will reach 65 years old in the coming 60 days, they may submit their applications to SCCO through Internet. The application will be processed and the card will be sent to the applicant by mail on 2 working days before the applicant's birthday.

2.2 Application for replacement |

Application by mail: Applicant can send the required documents and the replacement payment ($22) either by cheque/cashier order to the Senior Citizen Card Office by the pre-addressed envelope. The office will process and send the card to the applicant by mail within 7 working days after receiving the application.

Apply in person: The applicant may also bring along the required documents and the replacement fee ($22) either by cash or cheque/cashier order in person to the Senior Citizen Card Office during the office hours. The applicant will receive the Card within the day. The applicant (applicant's relative/friend) may also choose to submit the application and pay the replacement fee either by cash or cheque/cashier order through the following offices. Distribution of the Application Forms
The application forms and pre-addressed envelopes are available at the Senior Citizen Card Office, District Offices, and Social Security Field Units of the Social Welfare Department, Integrated Family Service Centre of each district, Public Housing Estate Offices of the Housing Department, Public Enquiry Offices of the Home Affairs Department, District Elderly Community Centre and Neighbourhood Elderly Centre.

Fee and Charges
Issue of the first Card is free. However, a nominal fee will be charged for replacement. The current fee is $22 (subject to revision). Replacement fee can be mailed to the Senior Citizen Card Office by crossed cheque/cashier order (payable to 'The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region'). |

Opening hours
Monday to Friday 8:45 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm (1:00 pm to 2:00 pm lunch break). Closed on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday.
Attention: After issuing the Senior Citizen card to an applicant, Senior Citizen Card Office does not keep his/her address. Thus, card holders don't have to inform the office for their change in address.

Attention: Beware of strangers pretending staff of Senior Citizen Card Office asking elders to renew Senior Citizen Card. It has come to Senior Citizen Card Office(SCCO)'s attention that some strangers pretending to be staff of SCCO to approach elders for renewing their Senior Citizen Card. Please be alerted that the Senior Citizen Card is valid permanently and thus renewal is not necessary. Therefore, please neither disclose your personal information nor pay money to strangers. In case of doubt, please call SCCO at 3583 2959 for enquiry.

All participating companies/organizations/Government departments are provided with copies of the adhesive logo of the Scheme for identification purpose. Elders may consult shop assistant for concession information. |
