- Introduction and Objectives

The Social Welfare Department is responsible for the planning, development and management of the licensing or registration systems for residential care homes for the elderly, residential care homes for persons with disabilities, drug dependent persons treatment and rehabilitation centres, and child care centres, in accordance with the relevant legislation of Hong Kong.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of licensing and regulation are to ensure that the above four types of residential care homes or centres comply with the legislative requirements with a view to providing an acceptable standard of services for the residents or service users in respect of their physical, emotional and social aspects.
