Nov 2018Announcement of the Result of Invitation for Proposals for Implementing the Pilot Scheme on Social Work Service for Pre-primary Institutions (Phase 1)

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) has earlier invited subvented non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to submit proposals to implement the Pilot Scheme on Social Work Service for Pre-primary Institutions (Phase 1) (the Pilot Scheme).  A total of 28 proposals were received and a Vetting Committee was set up to conduct assessment of the proposals.  Upon the recommendation of the Committee, SWD has selected the following 17 NGOs (including 15 operating Full Social Work Teams and 2 operating Half-teams) to implement the Pilot Scheme (Phase 1)  -

Nov 2018Application for “Hong Kong Paralympians Fund”

Applications are invited for the following categories of grants under the Hong Kong Paralympians Fund. 

(a) Development of Target Sports (2019-20);
(b) Subsistence Grant to Athletes with Disabilities (2019-20);
(c) Employment Facilitating Grant for Retired Athletes with Disabilities (2019-22);
(d) Audit fee (2019-20).

The deadline for (c) is 28 December 2018 and deadline for (a), (b) and (d) is 4 January 2019.

Nov 2018Application for "The Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment" and/ or "Central Fund for Personal Computers"

"The Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment" (The Scheme)(27th round) and "Central Fund for Personal Computers" (The Fund) (39th round) now accept applications.  The deadline for both the Scheme and Fund is 7 December 2018. The Scheme has been further enhanced since October 2015, including expansion of coverage on subsidy to purchase accessories/portable devices for PVI.

Eligible organisations, educational institutes and individual persons with visual impairment may apply for "The Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment" whereas "Central Fund for Personal Computers" is for eligible persons with disabilities engaging in self-employment at home or supported employment service at home.

Nov 2018Announcement of the Result of Invitation for Proposals to Operate Cyber Youth Support Teams

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) has earlier invited eligible non-governmental organisations to submit proposals to operate two Cyber Youth Support Teams (CYSTs).  Details of the result are as below-

A total of thirteen proposals have been received and a Vetting Committee (VC) was set up to conduct assessment on all the proposals.  Upon recommendation of the VC, SWD has selected the Hong Kong Children and Youth Services and St. James' Settlement to operate the two CYSTs.
Nov 2018Review on Processing of Compassionate Rehousing (CR) Cases

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) is currently conducting the captioned review.  Information on the scope, terms and schedule of the review can be downloaded here.

In order to collect views from personnel directly involved in the processing of CR cases, two rounds of focus group meetings were held in March 2017 and January 2018. SWD is consulting personnel directly involved in the processing of CR cases on the proposed enhancement measures, so as to rationalise and optimize the processing of CR cases.

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) has earlier invited eligible non-governmental organisations to submit proposals to operate a new aided standalone child care centre (CCC) in Sha Tin.  Details of the result are as below -

A total of nine proposals have been received and a Vetting Committee (VC) was set up to conduct assessment on all the proposals.  Upon recommendation of the VC, SWD has selected The Tsung Tsin Mission of Hong Kong Social Service to operate the above CCC.

A total of nine proposals have been received and a Vetting Committee (VC) was set up to conduct assessment on all the proposals.  Upon recommendation of the VC, SWD has selected Hong Kong Christian Service to operate the above four new SGHs.
