Jul 2019Announcement of the Result of Invitation for Operating the Sixth Batch of Child Development Fund School-based Projects

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) has earlier invited schools to submit application for operating the Sixth Batch of Child Development Fund (CDF) School-based Projects.  Upon the recommendation of the Vetting Committee, SWD has awarded 14 projects (including one joint-school project) to 16 operating schools.

Jul 2019Announcement of the Result of Invitation of Proposals for Operation of Specialised Co-parenting Support Centres (SCSCs)

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) has earlier invited eligible non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to submit proposals to operate the Specialised Co-parenting Support Centres in Hong Kong. A total of 17 proposals were received and a Vetting Committee (VC) was set up to conduct assessment of the proposals. To boost the supply of day care services, the Social Welfare Department is inviting operators of qualified private and self-financing residential care homes for the elderly to submit applications for the Bought Place Scheme on Day Care Units for the Elderly. Applications will close at 5 p.m. on 5 August 2019 (Monday).

Jul 2019Review on Processing of Compassionate Rehousing (CR) Cases

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) consulted personnel directly involved in the processing of CR cases on the proposed enhancement measures from September to November 2018, so as to rationalise and optimize the processing of CR cases.  The review has been completed and the SWD will follow up the finalized enhancement measures accordingly.
 
Jul 2019Provision of one-off extra allowance to recipients of Social Security Payments

The Legislative Council approved funding allocation on 16 May 2019 for implementing the measures as announced by the Financial Secretary on 27 February 2019 to provide one additional month of standard rate for Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients and one additional month of allowance for Old Age Allowance (including those payable under the Guangdong Scheme and Fujian Scheme), Old Age Living Allowance and Disability Allowance recipients under the Social Security Allowance Scheme. 

Eligible recipients will receive the one-off additional payment on 14 June 2019 and the payment will be credited to the designated bank accounts of the recipients.  Recipients are not required to make application for the additional payment.

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) has earlier invited eligible non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to submit proposals to implement the Pilot Scheme on Social Work Service for Pre-primary Institutions (Phase 2).  A total of 23 proposals were received and a Vetting Committee (Committee) was set up to conduct assessment of the proposals.  Upon the recommendation of the Committee, SWD has selected the following proposals (including 13 operating Full Social Work Teams and four operating Half-teams) to implement the services of the Pilot Scheme (Phase 2) –

The Social Welfare Department is now inviting non-governmental organisations to submit proposals for the operation of the Outreaching Team for Ethnic Minorities.  The invitation’s closing date is 26 July 2019 (Friday) at 5:00 p.m.

A briefing session will be held on 12 June 2019 (Wednesday) at 3:30 p.m. at Room G10, High Street Integrated Family Service Centre, G/F, Sai Ying Pun Community Complex, 2 High Street, Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong.

Jul 2019Invitation of eligible elderly persons to apply for the fifth batch of vouchers under the Pilot Scheme on Residential Care Service Voucher for the Elderly

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) launched the Pilot Scheme on Residential Care Service Voucher (RCSV) for the Elderly in March 2017.  A total of 3 000 RCSVs will be issued to eligible elderly persons in five batches within a period of three years from 2017 to 2019.  SWD has sent invitation letters to eligible elderly persons on 30 May 2019 with their application dates for long-term care services on or before 31 December 2018, inviting them to consider applying for the fifth batch of RCSVs by 27 June 2019.  For more information about the Pilot Scheme, please click here.
