Residential Care Services for the Elderly
- Residential Care Services Scheme in Guangdong
Enhancement measures have been implemented under the Residential Care Services Scheme in Guangdong since July 2023, including the expansion of beneficiary coverage and eligibility criteria for operating organisations. The two Mainland residential care homes for the elderly (RCHEs) that joined the Scheme in 2014 started providing nursing places, in addition to care-and-attention places, in 2024. Apart from these two RCHEs, a total of 13 RCHEs participated in the Scheme in 2024-25, bringing the total number of RCHEs under the Scheme to 15, spread across six Mainland cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), providing more choices for elderly persons interested in retiring in Mainland cities in the GBA. - Residential Care Service Voucher Scheme for the Elderly (RCSV Scheme))
Since the second quarter of 2024, the coverage of the RCSV Scheme has been expanded from care-and-attention places to nursing home places. An additional 1 000 RCSVs were provided, bringing the total to 5 000.
