Post-Release Supervision of Prisoners Scheme

Service Description

Post-Release Supervision of Prisoners Scheme, pursuant to the Post-Release Supervision of Prisoners Ordinance (Chapter 475, Laws of Hong Kong), is a joint venture of the Social Welfare Department and the Correctional Services Department.  The scheme provides adult discharged prisoners with supervision, guidance and counselling to help them reintegrate into society and lead a law-abiding life.

Service Target

  • Discharged prisoners put under post-release supervision as ordered by the Post-Release Supervision Board

Service Scope

  • Visiting prisoners in penal institutions and help them formulate social rehabilitation plan for their return to the community
  • Providing supervision, guidance and counselling to supervisees and their family members through regular visits at their home / work place and refer them to welfare services as appropriate

Service Entry and Exit

All service users are referred by the Post-Release Supervision Board.  Entry and exit of the service are bound by respective ordinance.
