Post-Release Supervision of Prisoners Scheme

Service Description

The Post-Release Supervision of Prisoners Scheme, serving certain categories of adult discharged prisoners put under supervision order in accordance with the Post-Release Supervision of Prisoners Ordinance (Chapter 475), is a joint venture of Social Welfare Department and Correctional Services Department established in 1996. This scheme provides adult discharged prisoners with guidance and counselling to help them reintegrate into society and lead a law-abiding life.

Target Group

Discharged prisoners who are subject to the post-release supervision ordered by the Post-Release Supervision Board.

Service Content

• To visit prisoners in penal institutions and help them formulate rehabilitation plan for their return to the community
• To provide guidance and counselling to supervisees and their family members through regular visits at their home/work place and refer them to welfare services if deemed necessary and appropriate
