Multi-service Centre for the Hearing Impaired

Description

It provides a full range of social rehabilitation services for persons with hearing impairment which include casework and counselling service, sign language interpretation and training, audiological, technical and speech therapy services.

Service Content and Eligibility

  • Casework and Counselling Service
    Hearing impaired persons who are experiencing a range of family or personal difficulties which cannot be resolved within the family or the community without assistance.
  • Sign Language Interpretation and Training
    - hearing-impaired persons requiring interpretation services or sign language training;
    - individuals interested in learning sign language to bridge the communication gap with hearing-impaired persons; and
    - government departments and non-governmental organizations.
  • Audiological, Technical and Speech Therapy Services
    Persons with hearing impairment.

Application Procedures

Referrals can be made by medical social workers, family caseworkers or NGO's staff to the Society for the Deaf. Self-referrals are also accepted. The application is free of charge.
