Support Centre for Persons with Autism
Description
The Support Centre for Persons with Autism (SPA), adopts a multi-disciplinary approach, and provides a range of training and support services for young persons with high-functioning autism (HFA) to meet their individual needs in coping with challenges during their transition into adulthood. SPA also offers support services for their parents/carers, and provides professional consultation and training for frontline staff of welfare service units serving persons with autism.
Target Service Users
The target groups of SPA include -
(a) Young persons with HFA at the age of 15 or above;
(b) Parents/carers of young persons with HFA; and
(c) Frontline staff of welfare service units serving persons with autism and their families.
Service Nature
SPA provide the following services -
(a) Individualised Intervention Programme and aftercare services to young persons with HFA;
(b) Support services for parents/carers of young persons with HFA;
(c) Dedicated hotline to provide consultation and render support services to parents/carers of persons with autism;
(d) Webpage and resource corner(s) for parents/carers of persons with autism; and
(e) Professional training for frontline staff of welfare service units.
Fees and Charges
The service of SPA is free of charge.
Referrals
Self-application can be made to the SPA direct, or referral through doctors, social workers, allied health professionals, etc.
