Explanatory notes to the list of records by category and subject

This list is only a broad description in general terms of the types of file records held by the Department. Upon receiving applications made under the Code on Access to Information, the Department will check whether the specific information requested is available and whether there are reasons to withhold them based on the provisions of the Code. If the Department cannot provide the information, we will let the applicant know the reason.
Since most categories of file records involve a large quantity of files, to enable the department to locate precisely the records that suit the need of applicants, applicants are requested to give more details of the information they want such as the specific subject matter and period covered by the information etc. This will also avoid a waste of the photocopying charge which applicants may have to pay to obtain copy of the information.
