Artificial intelligence ("AI") and big data analytics have the potential to enhance social well-being and are increasingly being applied to various business areas to improve operational efficiency and to provide new services.
- Ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI) Framework published by the Digital Policy Office (formerly known as the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer before the merger) is developed to assist Government bureaux and departments in adopting AI and big data analytics, and incorporating ethical elements in planning, design and implementation of IT projects or services. A customised version of this framework is suitably revised for general reference by organisations when adopting AI and big data analytics in their IT projects.
The Hong Kong Generative Artificial Intelligence Technical and Application Guideline published by the Digital Policy Office is promulgated to provide practical operational guidance for technology developers, service providers, and users in the application of generative AI technology. This guideline covers the scope and limitations of application, potential risks and governance principles of generative AI technology, including technical risks such as data leakage, model bias, and errors that need to be addressed.
Artificial Intelligence: Model Personal Data Protection Framework issued by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong provides internationally well-recognised and practical recommendations and best practices to assist organisations to procure, implement and use AI, in compliance with the relevant requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.
Guidance on the Ethical Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong applies to the development or use of AI systems that involve the use of personal data or the identification, assessment or monitoring of individuals, either of which would potentially impact the privacy of individuals in relation to personal data.- Leaflet titled

The 10 tips help users protect their personal data privacy and promote the responsible and safe use of AI chatbots.
Checklist on Guidelines for the Use of Generative AI by Employees formulated by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong aims to help organisations develop internal policies or guidelines for the use of Gen AI by employees at work while complying with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance in relation to the handling of personal data, with a view to facilitating the safe and healthy development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Hong Kong.
