Welfare Sector IT Security Portal
To raise awareness and knowledge of IT security and IT security level generally of the welfare sector, The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) conducted a Pilot Project of IT Security Audit for NGOs of the Welfare Sector in Hong Kong during Jul 2019 – Dec 2021 with funding support from the Lotteries Fund (LF).
Under the Pilot Project, the Welfare Sector IT Security Portal is established and provides the “IT Security Practice Guide for the Social Welfare Sector” (“the Guide”). The Guide provides guidance to NGOs on common IT security considerations and best practices from management and technical perspectives for implementing IT security measures against cybersecurity threats. It also covers various IT security domains with practical IT security toolkits, including self-assessment checklists, templates and security risk assessment tools for NGOs to have practical tools and reference to enhance their IT security control.
Training sessions on cyber security suitable for management, IT professionals and general staff were conducted in the Pilot Project. Training videos (see link below) and materials, and related information about IT security are available in the portal
