Handbook for Parents 1
Impact of separation and divorce

Inappropriate behavior

For the one living with the children

  • When children become the center of everything, it can increase the chance of conflict in parenting.

  • Treating the children as listeners, sharing and projecting negative feelings to your children.

  • Leverage them and use them as middle person to check up on the ex-partner or pursue claims. This will catch the children in the middle and destroy the trust between your children and the other parent.

  • Complaining about your ex-partner in front of the children leading to their resistance towards the other parent. Push the children to describe the process of their contact with your ex-partner and feel discontent when seeing the close bonding between the two during the ex-partner’s contact with them because of the lack of confidence in your children. And even displaying the anger towards the ex-partner onto the children.
